  1. Hi, Sunny. Thanks for clicking for me 
Regarding your presentation and Jane Austen… I thought your presentation was very effective in connecting the devices Austen used throughout her works to the meaning she creates through them. I myself have never read any of her books but your presentation gave a very comprehensive idea for the texture of her works and her use of characterization through foil characters (most notably, comparing Elizabeth with Anne). In my books by Hosseini, he accomplishes a similar effect by juxtaposing the characters of Amir and Hassan. By doing so, he effectively praises Hassan’s character which is predominantly identifiable by his endless love and loyalty of/to Amir. I also thought Austen’s use of humor was very strategic especially in Pride and Prejudice and the inclusion of the quote by Mr. Collins (“I am not now to learn [...] that it is usual with young ladies to reject the addresses of the man whom they secretly mean to accept…”) as it was a good example of Austen’s “mockery of the upper class”. I also enjoyed the list of rules you included in your presentation—they were rather entertaining to read through—but have a question regarding them: What was the punishment for breaking one or more of the rules? Were their specific consequences or was it more of an “unsaid social violation”?

  2. I loved looking through your blog because you really wove in your entire theme through all your marketing materials and especially the blog. I loved how you addressed the time period, effectively and concisely looking at the courtship rules (with a bit of humor!) and hierarchy type structure of society. You were one of the few people in our class that had so effective of a presentation structure. I enjoyed how you were able to hone in on specific devices like oxymoronic statements and then zoom out to show how that made an impact in terms of irony and humor used in Austen's writing.

You were able to effectively analyze character development in all your books and did so while being engaging also. You also addressed the literary devices but furthered this by stating how the device creates tone or tone shift and develops specific personalities in Austen's writing. It was interesting to see how similes were used to signify the resolution beginning. Ultimately, really well done presentation and beautifully designed blog!
    Thank you :)
